SDMI begins second round of small business workshops

A series of free workshops on managing disasters are being offered to small business owners and non-profit leaders in Mandeville, Kenner, Slidell and Belle Chasse this month.

Louisiana State University’s Stephenson Disaster Management Institute will show business owners how to prepare before a disaster strikes and how to recover with the goal of reducing lost business operations and revenues, organizers said.

The meetings include breakfast and take-home materials. Registration and the complete schedule of workshops can be found at http://centerforbusinessprep.org/news . All sessions are from 8 a.m. to noon.

This months meetings will be held:

  • Feb. 19 in Mandeville, City Council chambers at 21490 Koop Road
  • Feb. 21 in Slidell, Towers Building Conference Room at 520 Old Spanish Trail
  • Feb. 26 in Kenner, Park Pavilion at 3800 Loyola Dr.
  • Feb. 28 in Belle Chasse, YMCA at 8101 Highway 23

The workshops are funded by a grant from the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
